Since 1999, the Czech Architecture yearbook has annually mapped significant realizations of contemporary architecture in our country. Each volume brings an independent curatorial selection of 35 buildings, supplemented by the editor’s perspective, interviews, and a broader context of Czech architectural culture.
The current 2024—2025 edition, prepared by editor Jan Schindler on the theme Slow Buildings, has just been released in the ARCHIZOOM BOOKS series. The publication is available in a Czech-English language version.
From July, we are opening applications for the next 2025—2026 edition. The editorial baton is taken over by architect David Richard Chisholm from the studio CMC architects.

Czech Architecture Yearbook 2024—2025
The publication presents 35 of the most interesting buildings of contemporary Czech architecture.
The twenty-sixth volume of the respected series, published since 1999, was prepared by editor Jan Schindler with the theme Slow Buildings.
The publication is available in a Czech-English language version.

Edition history
The first volume summarized the decade 1989-1999, that is, the period after the Velvet Revolution, when it was necessary to capture the dynamically changing building culture – and it has been published annually since 1999. This year, the jubilee 25th issue mapping the years 2023-2024 was released.
The yearbook format is established: a large-format publication ranging from 176-228 pages, with bilingual (Czech-English) text and more than three hundred photographs, drawings and diagrams. The main chapter „Buildings“ usually presents 35 carefully selected realizations from across the Czech Republic, supplemented by the editor’s thematic essay and the chapters „Opinion“ (interview) and „Facts“ (overview of competitions, awards and events). Thanks to this, the publication serves at the same time as a reference database, a critical commentary, and a popular guide for the general public.
Curatorial model: each year a different prominent figure of Czech architecture. This approach ensures a diversity of opinions and a rotation of perspectives. Among the editors have been, for example, Petr Pelčák (2008—2009), Zdeněk Fránek (2014—2015), Jakub Cigler (2018—2019), Pavla Melková (2020—2021), Pavel Nasadil (2022—2023), and in the most recent edition so far Markéta Zdebská, whose selection of 35 buildings emphasized the theme „Environment for people and the world“ .
The publisher of the yearbook for a quarter of a century from the beginning was the non-profit organization Prostor — architecture, interior, design o.p.s., led by producer Dagmar Vernerová.
Now the book will be published by ARCHIZOOM BOOKS for Prostor – architecture, interior, design, o.p.s.
Over the twenty-five years, Czech Architecture has built a reputation as an authoritative „mirror“ of domestic culture and a reliable source for academics, investors, and foreign interest. Each volume captures not only specific realizations, but also the transformation of values: from the initial overview of post-November euphoria to today’s emphasis on sustainability, social sensitivity, and high-quality public space.
The editor of the 26th edition of the yearbook is architect Jan Schindler from the studio Schindler Seko architects. For the upcoming 2025—2026 volume, the symbolic editorial baton is taken over by the respected architect David Richard Chisholm (CMC architects).
