Conditions for submission – CZECH ARCHITECTURE YEARBOOK 2026

1. PURPOSE AND INTENT OF THE YEARBOOK

The Czech Architecture Yearbook 2026 is a traditional curated showcase aimed at mapping, presenting, and archiving the most significant architectural achievements in the Czech Republic, as well as projects by Czech architects abroad where applicable. Selected works will be published in the printed publication and presented on related platforms and professional websites.

2. CRITERIA FOR SUBMITTING BUILDINGS

Only buildings and architectural projects that meet all of the following criteria may be submitted for selection for the Czech Architecture Yearbook 2026:

  • Period of completion (2025–2026) with a completion guarantee: Buildings eligible for submission to the yearbook are those that have been or will be completed, granted final approval, or put into operation during the years 2025 and 2026. The decisive date for final completion of the project may be as late as 31 December 2026. If the applicant submits a project that is not fully completed by the submission deadline (30 September 2026), by submitting the entry they provide a binding guarantee that the building will be demonstrably completed in the declared form by the end of 2026. In the event that this guarantee is not met, the publisher reserves the right to exclude the building from the yearbook without compensation.
  • Geographical flexibility and Czech authorship: The building may be located anywhere in the world. The essential condition, however, is that the author or co-author of the architectural design (project) must be an architect, designer, or authorial team from the Czech Republic, or a studio registered or permanently operating in the Czech Republic.
  • Exclusivity and previous non-publication requirement: Only works that have not previously been published in any earlier edition of the Czech Architecture Yearbook may be submitted for the current edition. The purpose of this measure is to ensure the lasting originality, novelty, and documentary value of each individual volume of the yearbook. Re-submission of the same work that has already been selected once is not permitted.

3. SCHEDULE AND DEADLINES

  • Submission deadline: The entry, including complete initial documentation, must be submitted no later than 30 September 2026.
  • Selection of buildings: During October 2026, expert assessment and final selection of the buildings to be included in the yearbook will take place.
  • Announcement of selection results: At the beginning of November 2026, the architectural studios of the selected projects will be notified of their inclusion in the yearbook.
  • Delivery of print materials: Selected studios are required to deliver complete print-quality materials within 7 calendar days of receiving the notification of inclusion. Complete materials include final text corrections, complete print-ready drawing documentation according to the binding template, and print versions of selected photographs.

4. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND MATERIALS

The applicant (architectural studio, author, investor, or building owner) submits the entry electronically. In order to be successfully included in the selection process and subsequently published, the following requirements must be met:

  • Drawing documentation: Inclusion is conditional upon the delivery of drawings strictly according to the binding template, which is freely available for download on the website https://rocenka.cz/en/edition-2025-2026/.
  • Text section: A brief description of the building, information about the authors, designers, investor, and location. Architects have the opportunity to influence and correct the textual content related to their work.

5. RULES FOR VISUAL MATERIALS AND EDITORIAL ADJUSTMENTS

  • Restrictions on graphic adjustments: Architectural studios and authors may not interfere in any way with the graphic design, layout, or final visual presentation of the yearbook. The graphic concept is fully within the competence of the editorial team and the publisher.
  • Selection of photographs: Architects and applicants have no influence on the final editorial selection of visual material in the book. For this reason, it is essential that the applicant provides only photographs whose possible publication they fully and unconditionally approve and which they wish to use for the presentation of the work.
  • Quality of materials: After the selection announcement (in November), photographs must be supplied in high resolution suitable for print quality (minimum A4 format, 300 DPI resolution, CMYK colour mode, JPG or TIFF formats), in line with professional standards.

6. COPYRIGHT AND LICENCE

  • Agreement for photographs: A condition for publishing the selected work in the yearbook is the conclusion of a free licence agreement for the supplied photographs between the publisher and the holder of the copyright/property rights, or the author of the photographs where applicable. This agreement authorises the publisher to use the visual material free of charge within the printed yearbook, its promotion, and publicity.
  • Applicant’s declaration: By submitting the entry, the applicant declares that they are authorised to grant consent to the processing and publication of all supplied materials and that by submitting the entry they do not infringe any copyright, property, or other rights of third parties.

7. FINAL PROVISIONS AND RESERVATION OF RIGHTS

Compliance with all of the above criteria, schedules, and material requirements, including the delivery of drawings according to the binding template and the timely provision of print materials, is an essential prerequisite for the inclusion of the work in the yearbook.

In the event of failure to meet any of these conditions or guaranteed deadlines, the publisher fully reserves the right to exclude the building from the selection and from the overall yearbook production process without compensation.
